# Website migration

> Old website, new foundation: content takeover, 301 redirects, Google rankings preserved. Honestly explained, step by step.

## btlabs Core · Migration

## Move your website — without losing rankings.

The biggest fear when rebuilding: "Will I lose my Google rankings?" Justified — if you do it wrong. Here's how we do it right: take over content cleanly, 301-redirect every old URL, and add a speed boost on top. What you end up with isn’t just another site — it’s a digital knowledge and service interface that Google and AI systems read cleanly from day one.

## How the migration works

## Four steps, no copy-paste nightmare.

And afterward you don’t have to hope it worked — <b>you can see it</b>: search engine data and AI visibility come together in one place, so you get black-and-white confirmation the move paid off.

- 01
- Inventory
- Which pages rank, which URLs exist, what needs to be preserved? Measure first, then migrate.
- 02
- Content takeover
- Texts and images are imported in a structured way — not copied by hand. Whatever is outdated gets cut deliberately.
- 03
- 301 redirects
- Every old URL points to its new home. Google understands the move and carries your rankings over — instead of having to re-evaluate you from scratch.
- 04
- Speed boost
- Load times often under 200 ms instead of several seconds — the faster site often gives your rankings an extra tailwind.
- The goal: an AI website →

## FAQ

## Frequently asked questions about the project and migration.

### We already have a site — is migration possible?

Yes. We migrate the content and set up clean redirects (301), so your Google rankings stay intact. All about it: [Website migration without ranking loss](https://btlabs.dev/en/website-migration).

### What happens to my Google ranking?

No copy-paste nightmare: content is imported cleanly, all old URLs are 301-redirected. Your ranking doesn't just survive — thanks to the fast load times it often even gets a boost.

### How long does a project take?

Honestly, that depends on the scope — concept, custom design and a clean migration take their time. You'll get a clear roadmap with a realistic timeframe after the straight-talk conversation. We deliberately take on few projects at a time — and do them properly.

### Who builds and looks after the project?

The specialists of the Berger+Team collective, directly — a hand-picked core team around Florian for strategy, design, copy, SEO and code. You talk to the people who actually build it.

### Is there support and training after launch?

Yes — both are part of it: an introduction to maintaining your system and a direct line to us when you need help. Maintenance and training are included — no ticket carousel.

### Aren't you too small for my project?

The collective scales precisely to the project — backed by a network across the DACH region and Italy. Since 2018, with 20+ years of experience behind it.

### Can you also build a shop or a protected customer area?

Yes, it's technically prepared for that — but it's not already built in from the start. A dedicated login area for customers or a payment connection are add-on stages that we build onto your existing foundation when you need them.

Example: if you later want to show regular customers exclusive prices or documents behind a login, we add exactly that area — built to fit, not as an off-the-shelf module.

### Do you also handle the marketing?

Yes — performance marketing, ads, and content. Website, branding, and marketing come together with one point of contact who also understands what's happening under the hood — instead of you coordinating three vendors who blame each other.

### Do you only work in South Tyrol?

Bolzano is the base. Projects run in South Tyrol, Italy and across the DACH region — remotely, well-rehearsed.

### What sets you apart from an agency?

At a classic agency, your request lands in a ticket system first, then with a project manager, who passes it to a developer you never actually talk to. With us, you email or call the person who actually writes the code — usually Florian himself.

Concretely: a change request doesn't go through three hand-offs, it goes straight into the work — often discussed and scheduled the same day. No management layer, no middleman: what you pay goes into the result, not into coordination.

### Can I keep my domain and email addresses?

Yes. Your domain is yours — it is registered to you or your business and simply moves with you when the website changes. For visitors and search engines the address stays the same; existing links keep working, and properly configured redirects catch everything else.

Your email addresses remain untouched too: email runs technically independently of website hosting. Your mailbox can stay with your current provider — during the move, the only thing to take care of is that the technical settings keep pointing correctly to your email service. A new website project is no reason to give up addresses people know.

### How does a project run — from first conversation to go-live?

It starts with a no-obligation first conversation: what do you want to achieve, what already exists, what is missing? From that comes a clear proposal with scope, process and a realistic estimate of the timeline. The concept phase follows — content, page structure, design direction — before implementation begins.

During implementation you see interim states instead of a black box, and your feedback flows straight into the work. Before go-live we check content, languages, technology and redirects together. After launch you get an introduction to maintaining your content — and, if you wish, ongoing support to keep the website current and visible.
