## btlabs Core · SEO & GEO

## SEO and GEO: the whole chain.

SEO gets you into the results of Google and Bing, GEO into the answers of AI systems. Both hang on the same chain: content that answers a real question, the right search terms, authority from outside, local data — and finally checking whether you get mentioned. btlabs Core thinks through every link. Where software helps, it is built in. Where it takes human work, we say so.

- [All features in detail](https://btlabs.dev/en/features)

## The chain

## Eight links, one connection.

Each link builds on the one before. If one is missing, the chain doesn't hold: good content without the right search terms goes unfound, and authority without clear data ends up with the wrong business.

- 01
- Content SEO
- Content that answers a question.
- Every day, each page gets a score for title, description, keyword and preview image. The system also flags thin pages under 150 words, orphan pages with no incoming link and dead ends with no way out — the spots where neither a search engine nor an AI finds anything useful.
- 02
- Search intent
- Knowing what the searcher wants.
- For every page you define which search intent it serves: learning, comparing providers, closing a deal or looking for your name directly. A page that serves the wrong intent helps no one, even with the right term.
- 03
- Keyword strategy
- Terms from real searches.
- Focus and secondary keywords are set per page and language. Once your account is connected, the system pulls the actual search queries from Google Search Console every night and shows terms just behind the first results page as quick wins. If two of your own pages compete for the same term, it flags keyword cannibalization.
- 04
- Authority
- Clear about who you are.
- Authority grows where others write about you, not on your own website. So that these mentions reach you, your company, address and profiles elsewhere appear consistently as structured data on every page. That gives a machine less reason to confuse you with a business of a similar name.
- 05
- Backlinks
- Seeing who links to you.
- From Bing Webmaster Tools the system pulls the backlinks to your pages and, for the 20 most-linked pages, the anchor texts too. That is Bing's view, not a complete analysis — but enough to see whether a mention arrives as a link.
- 06
- Digital PR
- PR stays human work.
- No system writes expert articles for you or wins over an editor. btlabs Core provides the foundation: clear, citable data about your business. The work itself is done by people — you, or Berger+Team as a service.
- 07
- Local SEO
- Found where you are.
- For local SEO, your company, opening hours and location sit on the page as structured data, in all three languages. Only what is also visible on your website gets marked up — that's how the system is built. Your Google Business Profile is managed at Google — that lies outside any website.
- 08
- GEO monitoring
- Checking whether an AI mentions you.
- The citation monitor puts up to ten test questions to up to eleven language models without naming you, and rates the result: not mentioned, mentioned, recommended, first choice. It is off by default, and every run costs a little via your own AI access.

## In detail

## Where each topic lives.

- 01
- Measuring visibility.
- Visitors, search data, AI access and AI mentions in one cockpit — separated by source, without cookies.
- [How we measure visibility →](https://btlabs.dev/en/measuring-visibility)
- 02
- Being found by AI.
- A text version of every page, llms.txt, structured data and clear rules on what AI systems may do.
- [More on AI discoverability →](https://btlabs.dev/en/ai-discoverability)
- 03
- Technology for Google.
- Finished HTML from the server, one XML sitemap per content type, a 301 redirect whenever a page is renamed. With IndexNow switched on, new addresses go straight to Bing and other participating search engines — Google reads the sitemap.
- [Everything for Google in detail →](https://btlabs.dev/en/found-on-google)
- 04
- Three languages.
- German, Italian and English on equal footing, with translated addresses and language references for search engines. A page that isn't translated doesn't appear in the other language, instead of silently showing German.
- [More on multilingual websites →](https://btlabs.dev/en/multilingual-website)
- 05
- Local data, done right.
- Name, address and opening hours from one source, in three languages — the same details on the page and in the data for Google and AI assistants.
- [Local visibility →](https://btlabs.dev/en/local-visibility)
- 06
- Link building and PR.
- Done by people, not software. If you don't want to handle it yourself: Berger+Team offers it as a service.

## Plain talk

## What software doesn't replace.

- 01
- No guarantee of rank one.
- Search engines and AI systems decide for themselves whom to show and mention. btlabs Core makes sure the technical groundwork on your page is right and measures what happens. No serious provider promises a ranking or a mention.
- 02
- Strategy remains your call.
- The system shows what people search for and where pages are weak. Which topics you want to own and whom you write for is up to you — with us, if you like.
- 03
- An online shop is an expansion stage.
- E-commerce SEO requires a shop, and that isn't included as standard. Services and prices can already be shown on the page and marked up as structured data today.

## FAQ

## Frequently asked questions about SEO and GEO.

### Has classic SEO become obsolete with AI search?

No. Google AI overviews mostly cite pages that already rank well classically. SEO remains the ticket in — AI optimisation (GEO) is the extension with citable answers, structure and visible authority.

### What is the difference between SEO, GEO and LLMO?

The three terms build on each other rather than replacing one another. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) makes sure a page ranks well in classic search results. GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) extends that goal to being cited as a source in AI-generated answers — in a ChatGPT or Perplexity answer, for example.

LLMO (Large Language Model Optimisation) goes a step further and gets more technical: it means specifically understanding and influencing how individual language models process, weigh and reproduce content — essentially reverse-engineering the model in question. In practice: SEO remains the entry ticket, GEO secures broad citability, and LLMO fine-tunes the details for the systems that matter most to a given business.

Whether you need this distinction day to day is a separate question — we answered it at length: [Do you really need five new acronyms?](https://btlabs.dev/en/posts/geo-aeo-llmo-do-you-need-five-acronyms)

### What is already built in technically for Google?

In btlabs Core, the technical groundwork for search engines is part of the foundation: XML sitemaps per content type, meaningful URLs with an automatic 301 redirect when you change an address, canonical tags, robots control per page and structured data following Schema.org. Every page is delivered fully rendered from the server, so even crawlers that don't execute JavaScript see the complete content. To be honest about it: instant notification via IndexNow reaches Bing and others, but not Google — and nobody can guarantee a ranking or stars in the search results.

### Do you also take care of link building and PR?

The platform itself doesn't build links or write press releases — that's handwork, not software. btlabs Core provides the groundwork: clean, unambiguous data about your business that others can easily link to and cite, and in the cockpit the backlinks Bing knows for your most important pages. Link building and PR themselves are something we offer as a service from Berger+Team, if you want it.
