# Media break

A media break occurs when a piece of information has to be transferred from one system to the next by hand. An example: a customer books an appointment through a tool, and their data is then typed by hand into the newsletter list. At that point the automatic flow breaks — the medium switches from one system to another.

Every media break is unpaid manual work and at the same time a source of errors: typos, outdated copies and contradictory data creep in. The more separate, isolated tools a business uses, the more such breaks arise — and the more expensive it becomes in time and errors.

The solution is a single source of truth from which all systems draw the same data. Then a piece of information is maintained only once and used automatically everywhere — the media break disappears at the root.
