# Knowledge Graph / digital entity

While classic search engines long focused mainly on words and links, modern AI systems connect concepts in a knowledge graph: a network of entities — people, places, companies, terms — and the relationships between them. A company isn't understood there as mere text on a page, but as a distinct digital entity with clear properties: name, location, services, opening hours, affiliations.

This linking arises mainly through structured data — in Schema.org format, for example — which marks up properties and relationships in a machine-readable way, rather than hiding them in body text alone. The more clearly a business appears as an entity with unambiguous, consistent information, the more reliably an AI can place it, link it to other entities, and reproduce it correctly in answers.
