# AI-ready

> Definition, the most common misconceptions (no chatbot!) and the building blocks that let AI systems correctly understand and recommend a business.

Synonyms: AI-ready website, AI-optimized, machine-readable website

An AI reads a website differently than a human: it breaks the page into text segments, converts them into numeric vectors and works with probabilities. What it does not understand unambiguously, it renders incorrectly — or not at all. Being AI-ready therefore means: clear structure (clean heading hierarchy, one topic per paragraph), structured data (Schema.org/JSON-LD), fast delivery, crawling permissions for AI bots and full language versions instead of automatic translations.

The risk of missing AI readability is not just invisibility but misrepresentation: in tests by the Tow Center (Columbia University, 2025), AI search engines got source attributions wrong in over 60% of cases — and prefer answering confidently wrong over admitting they do not know. Whoever documents their facts unambiguously and machine-readably takes away the AI’s room to guess.

For trilingual locations like South Tyrol there is an added structural advantage: whoever maintains German, Italian and English as fully-fledged versions is citable in three language areas — most competitors manage at most one.
