## btlabs Core · Technical SEO

## Found on Google: the technology nobody has to think about.

Technical SEO means a search engine can fetch every page, understand it and file it correctly. It's not an extra but the precondition for being found on Google — and exactly the part that quietly breaks on many websites when someone renames a page or an add-on goes out of date. In btlabs Core it runs by default, without you having to think about it.

- [SEO and GEO: the whole chain](https://btlabs.dev/en/seo-and-geo)

## Built in

## Eight things that work by default.

Most of this happens on its own when you save a page. Where you set something, you do it once — right where you work anyway.

- 01
- Delivery
- Finished pages from the server.
- Even a crawler that doesn't run JavaScript sees every sentence: the page arrives complete as HTML from the server. And it arrives fast — in the load test (August 2026, cached page) the median response time stayed under 200 ms.
- 02
- Sitemaps
- A sitemap that never goes stale.
- Every content type with its own addresses — pages, posts, glossary and whatever else you use — has its own XML sitemap with all language versions, plus an index. Publish a post and it's in; a draft never is.
- 03
- Redirects
- Rename without dead links.
- “/services-old” becomes “/services”? The system creates the 301 redirect itself. Anyone with the old link in an email or a bookmark still lands in the right place — and a search engine learns where the page lives now.
- 04
- Canonical
- One address per piece of content.
- If content can be reached at several addresses — say, with a campaign parameter appended — each page names its main address. Google gets a clear hint which variant is meant.
- 05
- Robots
- You decide what goes into the index.
- A promotion page meant only for regular customers? A switch on the page keeps it out of search results. The rules for search engines and AI crawlers as a whole sit in one place, the robots.txt.
- 06
- Title and description
- See how it looks in search beforehand.
- Next to the text field you see how the search result will look — per language. If the description is empty or too long, the system flags it before the page goes live.
- 07
- Structured data
- Your business as data.
- Opening hours, prices, questions and answers or a job posting are also included as structured data following Schema.org — around 40 types. What is marked up is what's also visible on your website.
- 08
- IndexNow
- New content reported instantly — to Bing & co.
- With IndexNow switched on — one setting — every published address goes straight to Bing and the other participating search engines. Google doesn't take part in IndexNow; there, the sitemap and regular crawling make sure new content gets found.

## One-off

## Set up once, then it runs.

- 01
- Connect Search Console.
- You add your website to Google Search Console, verify it and give the system read access — about five steps, roughly a quarter of an hour. From then on btlabs Core fetches your search data every night.
- [Measuring visibility →](https://btlabs.dev/en/measuring-visibility)
- 02
- Enter the sitemap once.
- Your robots.txt already names the sitemap — Google finds it there even without you. Still, enter it once in Search Console: only there can you see whether Google was able to read it. After that nothing more is needed, because the sitemap updates itself.
- 03
- Bing as well.
- Bing Webmaster Tools can be connected the same way. Bing also shows, from its own point of view, which pages link to yours.

## Plain talk

## What technology can't force.

- 01
- No position guaranteed.
- Technical SEO creates the precondition, not a ranking. Which page comes out on top is Google's decision, based on content, relevance and authority.
- [Local visibility →](https://btlabs.dev/en/local-visibility)
- 02
- No stars to order.
- Structured data makes an enhanced display possible, not certain. Whether Google shows stars or extra details is up to Google.
- 03
- IndexNow doesn't reach Google.
- Anyone promising “reported to Google instantly” is promising too much. Google finds new pages through the sitemap and its own crawling — usually quickly, but not on demand.

## FAQ

## Frequently asked questions about Google.

### Are my new pages reported to Google automatically?

No, not directly. With instant reporting switched on (a setting), every published address goes straight to Bing and the other participating search engines; Google does not take part in this procedure. Google finds your new page through the always-current sitemap on its next crawl — usually quickly, but not on demand.

### Do I have to submit my sitemap to Google myself?

It isn't required: your robots.txt names the sitemap, and Google finds it there on its own. It's still worth entering it once in Google Search Console — it's part of the setup, which takes about a quarter of an hour, and only there can you see whether Google was able to read it. After that there's nothing more to do: the sitemap updates itself as soon as you publish something.

### What happens to my Google ranking?

No copy-paste nightmare: content is imported cleanly, all old URLs are 301-redirected. That keeps intact the structure your ranking depends on. Speed is a confirmed ranking factor — how it plays out in your case is Google's call.
